| Properties : |
| |
-Sulphaprim contains two active ingredients in such a way
that Trimethoprim increases the activity of Sulphadiazine
by preventing the transformation of Folic acid into bioactive
folic antagonist.
-Sulphadiazine prevents the proliferation of bacteria causing
diseases since this material affects amino benzoic acid
which is necessary for the growth of bacteria. |

| Indications : |
| |
Indicated in the treatment of acute and chronic infections
caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Used in case of respiratory tract infections, secondary bacterial
infections to viral disease, alimentary tract infections, foul
in foot, mastitis and infections of eye, ear and mouth. |

| Dosage and administration : |
| |
Administered by intramuscular, slow intravenous or subcutaneous
Injection.
Cattle, Sheep and Pigs: 1 ml / 16 kg body weight by intramuscular
or slow intravenous injection (15 mg of combined
active ingredients / kg body weight)
Horses: 1 ml / 16 kg body weight, by slow intravenous
injection only.
Dogs and Cats: 1 ml / 8 kg body weight, by subcutaneous
Injection only.
(30 mg of combined active ingredients / kg body weight)
Single injection maybe sufficient in not complicated conditions,
but in severe infections the dose may be repeated
for up to a maximum of 5 consecutive days, or until 2 days
after symptoms resolve. |

| Warnings : |
| |
-Adequate drinking water should be available during the
therapeutic effect of the drug.
-Intravenous injections should be administered slowly over
as long a period as if reasonably practical in order to avoid
possible anaphylactic shock. |

|
|
| Contraindications : |
| |
-Injections should not be given by routes other than recommended.
-Do not administer to horses exhibiting drug-induced cardiac
arrhythmias.
-Do not administer to animals with known sulphonamide
sensitivity. |

|
|
| Withdrawal Period : |
| |
-Cattle and Pigs shouldn’t be slaughtered for human consumption
within 10 days from the last treatment.
-Sheep shouldn’t slaughtered for human consumption
within 18 days from the last treatment.
-Milk from treated Cattle shouldn’t be used during treatment
and within 60 hours from the last treatment.
-Not to be used in sheep producing milk for human consumption. |
